Twin Infinitives—Between Transformation and Repetition
The project started with a random ChatGPT query: ‘…list 30 twin infinitives…’ ‘Twin infinitives’ is the name of an L.P. by Royal Trux that I appreciate, and as far as I know the word-pairing doesn’t have any other specific descriptive or applied use. As expected a list was returned (when are queries not returned?) with fully unexpected content. Each item on the list was requested to be expanded on…and was — resulting in the short statements that thread the publication. The introductory text is authored by ChatGPT.
Verbs and adjectives within the statements were used for further promps; these were used in the publication to expand and inform, or to bring incongruity as and if…
The visual components are examples of my ongoing exploration of using Max8 as a creative computational environment. Here, the images are generated using randomicity and Markov chain instructions for the purposes of iteration. The visual studies are not directly informed by the texts generated by ChatGPT, and were paired within each spread through a (slightly less artificial) interpretive process.
